WoW!

27 02 2008

Hello everyone, and welcome to another AWESOME Work-out Wednesday!  We are definitely seeing a trend here with Operation Pink Herring being in the lead!  OPH has 495 minutes this week, but she is NOT in the lead for the month…  Who is creeping up behind her?

Kassie is in 2nd place for this week with 425 minutes and Heather is in 3rd with 395 minutes.

Now for the embarrassing part of this entry…  I have 30 minutes from this week.  I am lame.  I think this might be a repeat question, but PLEASE tell me what ya’ll do to keep yourselves motivated!  How do you make time for exercise when you feel overwhelmed with other things?

The other two organizers, Audrey and Anna have been doing much better than me, although you are all kicking our butts!  Anna came in this week with 150 minutes and Audrey had 215.

I am presenting our numbers this week to let you know that even if you are nowhere near OPH, you are definitely doing better than me!  In all honesty, most of you are doing better than any of us!  WAY TO GO EVERYONE!

Testimonial: Lindsey and Bugs

25 02 2008

Hola, all you awesomely active folks! Today I’m pleased to announce the first (of what we hope will be many) Testimonial! Lindsey came up with the awesome idea that y’all could send us testimonials of how GaGA is making your lives more awesome and we could post them here on this blog. Awesome, right?

Lindsey even offered to start us off by a testimonial co-written with her handsome dog, Bugs. Here’s what they have to say (FYI: Edgar is Lindsey’s finace and Zoey is their poodle):

Bugs and I have been getting active and awesome since January 1, 2008. We were active and awesome before then, but we are now way more active and way more awesome thanks to the wonderful program that is Active Awesome. Actually, our whole family has been getting active and recording our minutes on a calendar to track our progress. Edgar has been taking Bugs running quite a bit too and whenever I go for a walk, I take Zoey along. Let’s face it, she has…err….big bones? Um…..a little junk in the trunk if you will. She can’t handle a long run, but a fast paced walk suits her just fine. I log in a lot of my minutes at the gym, but it’s nice to break it up a bit and run or walk outdoors on a nice day. Bugs is in such a routine of being active now that he spirals into a deep depression if he doesn’t log in his activity minutes each day.
In addition, all of us have been trying to make healthier food choices and I have begun a weight lifting program that I’ve been sticking to so far (the wedding has been added motivation). I tend to be a pretty active person anyway, but Active Awesome has made me take a look at exactly how much activity I really am doing each week and it has motivated me to add more and work to be consistent. Thanks Active Awesome for changing my life for the better!!! ~Lindsey
I am so active, sometimes I poop twice during my run. Thanks Active Awesome!!! ~Bugs

Thanks Lindsey and Bugs for writing such an Awesome Testimonial!

Work Out Wednesday!

20 02 2008

Happy Wednesday, everybody! Y’all were seriously awesome last week and built up some great activity minutes!

Leading this week’s minute count is Heather with 775 minutes! Playing on the beach over a long weekend is an awesome way to be active!

Coming in second is Operation Pink Herring with 445 minutes. Jen has been busy planning her wedding but has also managed to fit in mural painting and working out — now that’s impressive!

Lindsey came in third last week with 418 minutes. Lindsey’s also busy planning a wedding, but has been working out faithfully with the help of her dogs. Check out her latest post for one of the awesome-ist pictures you’ll ever see.

In fourth place is Nic with 335 minutes. Head on over to her site and give her some hair coloring advice!

And in fifth place this week is Suzanne with 270 minutes. Suzanne just spent an awesome couple of days at Disney World with some friends — sounds like a great way to stay active to me!

As of Monday, the overall February standings are as follows:

  1. Heather: 1385
  2. Operation Pink Herring: 1130
  3. Kat: 950
  4. Lindsey: 813
  5. KM: 780

A lot of you are really close to being in the top five, so keep earning those activity minutes, and stay awesome!

Audrey

Fitting it In

13 02 2008

Hi everyone!  I’m back.  Did you miss me?

Even if you didn’t, I’ll bet you’re excited to see this week’s numbers.

Leading the way is our winner from January – OPH – with 465 minutes.  Not only is she awesome at racking up activity minutes, she pretty much kicks butt with New Year’s Resolutions, too!

In second, we have Kat with 355.  Kat’s art is pretty awesome, too, don’t you think?

The third spot this week is held by KM, with 320 minutes.  I was going to give KM a hard time about not posting, but I just checked and she’s updated.  That’s pretty awesome.

In fourth place and 305 minutes is Lindsey.  Lindsey has an awesome dog.

And finally, last but not least is Erin with an even 300 minutes.  Erin is obviously an awesome teacher.  Her students are very, very lucky.

So far for February the standings look like this:

1. Kat – 690
2. OPH – 685
3. Aleisha – 560
4. Jenn – 540
5. KM – 515

So, the new job is definitely awesome, however I’m having a little bit of a tough time with the change in hours.  I’ve been pretty good about getting workouts in this week, but they’ve been pretty short.  This week I’d like to know your secrets for fitting in a workout when your day is already packed to the brim.  When you can’t get a full workout in, what do you do to make the most of the time you do have?

Thanks everyone for participating.  I hope you’re having as much fun as Audrey, Deidra and I are!
