Awesome Frequently Asked Questions
Is it too late to sing up? It’s never too late to sign up! We’ll always call for new recipients before the first of the month, since that’s the best time to sign up if you want to have a shot at the prize. But you can sign up mid-month if you want! Either way, drop us a comment or email with your name and email address, and include your blog URL if you’d like to be added to the blogroll. New Awesomely Active participants are always welcome!
Does [insert activity here] count as Activity? Basically, anything that you would consider a workout counts. As long as it gets your heart rate up and/or you work up a sweat doing it, count it! Some examples of things you could do to earn Activity Minutes would be:
- Walking the Dog
- Running
- Jogging
- Weight Lifting
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Aerobics
- Dancing
- Sports
- StairMaster-ing
- Elliptical Trainer-ing
- Treadmill-ing
- Dance Dance Revolution-ing
- Yard Work, such as Lawn Mowing (minutes spent on the riding mower don’t count, obviously)
- Swimming
- Shoveling Heavy Snow
This is in no way a complete list of activities that count toward Awesome Activity Minutes. We’re sure you can come up with lots of other creative ways to get active. When you do, let us know what they are — we’d love to see how y’all are getting active and getting awesome!
Do I need to send you my spreadsheet every week as proof of my Activity Minutes? Nope! Just email with the number of minutes you spent being active during the past week (just the week’s total, not your monthly total to date!) and we’ll trust you. No cheating!
What if I don’t have time to work out? No one ever said you had to get all your minutes in at once! Do little things throughout the day as you have time — you’d be surprised how quickly they add up. For example, Audrey might go for a 20-minute walk during her lunch break, spend 10 minutes shoveling snow when she gets home, and then do 20 minutes of yoga before bed — and just like that she’ll have racked up 50 Activity Minutes for the day. Awesome, right?
